Gingerbread Recipe

We love a bit of baking and on bank holiday Monday we decided to crack open the baking cupboard and make some gingerbread, we haven't made it for a while and the children love it. I love that the recipe is really simple and aside from chilling the dough its  a quick recipe.

175g Plain Flour
60g Caster Sugar
50g Butter
2 tablespoons Golden Syrup
3 tablespoons Double Cream
1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Bicarbonate of soda

Heat the syrup, sugar and butter in a medium saucepan. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved
Add the cream and the spice and stir into the mixture
Add the flour and bicarbonate of soda and stir till you have a loose mixture
Tip Mixture onto some parchment paper and pop in the fridge for 2 hours
After 2 hours the dough will be great for rolling
Preheat your over to 180 degrees whist you cut your shapes
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until their golden brown
Decorate as you wish and enjoy
