Five Guys Liverpool Review

Last week I took a trip to Liverpool with Mr D and Mr C to have some last minute fun before it was time to go back to school. As part of this trip, we took a visit to Five Guys for some yummy lunch. Situated right near Queens Square bus station it perfectly situated in the centre of everything and ideal for a spot for lunch. It looks like an all-American diner has just been dropped right in the middle of the city, they are open from 11am until 10.30pm. I love the red it makes the place really stand out. The signs as you enter say it's the Willy Wonka's of burger craft and I couldn't wait to find out.
Five Guys is a fast food restaurant, so you que up and place your order, you are given an order number and collect it when you're shouted. All food is completely freshly made so you do have to wait for it to be cooked. There are boxes of shelled peanuts around for you to help yourself to while you wait, as we were there as guests to review we were given the VIP treatment by the lovely Danny. As we were Five Guys virgins he went through the menu, explained about the size of the burgers, the options for fries and demonstrated the amazing drinks machine to us.
When it comes to drinks options you have bottled water, 3 types of lager, unlimited refill soft drinks and milkshakes. Their drinks machine is the stuff of dreams! There is every flavour combination you can think of if you want grape flavoured sprite or lime flavoured coke or maybe just water the machine has got it. You control how much goes in the cup, so you can even mix the flavours up if you really want to. I had caffeine free cherry flavoured coke and my brother had a grape sprite. Mr D was only ever going to order a legendary Five Guys milkshake. You can have any combination of the following flavours:
  • Vanilla
  • Peanut Butter
  • Chocolate
  • Malted Milk
  • Strawberry
  • Salted Caramel
  • Cherry
  • Banana
  • Oreo Cookie Pieces
  • Coffee
You also have to option of adding whipped cream on top and the interesting option of bacon?!?! Can't see that one taking off but you never know!
Create Your Own Milkshake £4.75
Unlimited Refill Drink £2.50
After Danny took our order we were given a time frame for our order being ready, this was between 7-10 minutes. While we waited Danny got the kids some paper and crayon, Five Guys like to keep the kids busy and they display all the kid's artwork on the cork board near the order station for all the customers to see.
While we waited for our food I had a good look at the menu to see what was on offer, the menu isn't huge but its what you would expect from a burger restaurant with a few added extras:
  • Hamburger
  • Cheeseburger
  • Bacon Burger
  • Bacon Cheeseburger
  • All Beef Hotdog
  • Cheese Dog
  • Bacon Dog
  • Bacon Cheese Dog
  • Veggie Sandwich
  • Cheese Veggie Sandwich
  • Grilled Cheese Sandwich
  • BLT
All of the burgers are available as standard, which comes with 2 prime fresh beef patties and little which come with just 1 patty. We went for a little cheeseburger, a bacon cheeseburger and a beef hot dog, having seen the size of the burgers I played it safe and stuck with a little burger.
Little Cheeseburger £5.50
All Beef Hotdog £4.25
Bacon Cheeseburger £8.75
When you place your order for your burger you have a range of topping you can customise your food with, from lettuce, gherkins, grilled onions and a choice of sauces you can really make the burger exactly how you want it. I love this aspect of the service as there aren't many places you can pick and choose what you want on your burger. I also love that you can have green peppers! I love peppers and have never been given the option to have them on my burger before. You can go for the all the way option for your topping which comes with:
  • Mayo
  • Lettuce
  • Pickles
  • Tomatoes
  • Grilled Onions
  • Grilled Mushrooms
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
This is a great go-to option if you just like your regular toppings. All burgers and hot dogs are also available bunless if you are watching your figure. The fries come in 3 sizes little, regular and large and you can have them as Five Guys style and cajun style. The large portion is big enough for 2 adults to share, even the little portion was slightly too large for the kids.
Large Five Guys Style Fries £5.00
Regular Cajun Style Fries £4.00
All fries are cooked in pure peanut oil which has no cholesterol, so do bear that in mind if you have a peanut allergy. I loved the cajun style fries, they had a real kick to them and the kids loved the Five Guys style fries. There is ketchup out that you can hand dispense yourself and the rest of the dips are behind the counter and you just request them. When we had finished our meal Danny came over to see the kids drawings and asked if they wanted to pin them on the board.
Mr D was chuffed to have his picture on the wall of fame and Danny told him they stay there forever! I am sure he will check next time we visit them. We loved the food, atmosphere and service at Five Guys and we will definitely visit again in the future. It is more expensive than your regular burger joint, but them it is so much more than a regular burger joint! It's a real American experience right here in the UK and I urge you to go try it out.
Thanks For Reading
