Goodyear Driving Academy App Review

A few weeks ago I saw a tweet from Goodyear seeking bloggers to try out their app and cardboard VR headset and I knew I had to reply as my boys wouldn't forgive me if I didn't. This weekend we had lots of fun with the Goodyear Driving Academy App and the cardboard VR headset.
The headset is really easy to use, it all fastens with velcro and has the instructions printed on the inside of the foldout flap. It even had the website for the game printed on the inside of the headset, Mr L couldn't wait to get going and have a go.
Once you type the website address into your phone you have the option of going straight to the game, view the leaderboard or take the quiz. We of course went straight to the game, you have the option of a countryside, town or city and then the option of playing with the headset or without. So even if you don't have a headset you can still go online and have a go. At the end of your chosen course it gives you a score of how well or how bad you have done.
We have all had a go and we have enjoyed seeing who can get the best score. I don't currently drive at all and I noticed whilst playing how distracting the mobile phone ringing in the app was, it drives me batty and I couldn't help looking at the phone, this obviously meant I wasn't looking at the road. Mr L was our chief tester and he has loved testing out this game and loves the headset. It's a great tool for learning about road safety and learning the highway code. Make sure you go over to the website and have a go yourself.

Dobble Card Game Review & Giveaway

The children love to play a game together and we have been sent Dobble to review and is a game that all 4 of my children can play. Dobble is a great game for reaction, hand-eye coordination and a bit of a laugh.  In Dobble, players compete with each other to find the one matching symbol between one card and another. Every card is unique and has only one symbol in common with any other in the deck.
It's a fast-paced game and I loved watching the children scan the cards to see if they could match a symbol on the cards.
Finding a match can be difficult to spot as the size and positioning of the symbols can vary on each card, it is a real workout for your eyes. There are several different modes of play, once a player finds the match, they shout it out before other players and either take the card or place it somewhere else depending on which version of the age they are playing.
Dobble can be played with up to 8 people and is suitable for ages 6+, but my 5-year old as able to follow the game perfectly fine. The cards can be stored in the cool metal tin, so you won't lose them, Dobble can be bought from Amazon for just £9.99.

I now have the opportunity for 1 of you to have some Dobble fun of your own, as I have been provided with a Dobble game for giveaway. If you would like to win just enter via the widget below, do take a moment to read the terms and conditions before entering.

A Look In My Letterbox #8

Take a look through my letterbox again this week, I had 2 no post days again this week. I am linking up with the lovely Alice Megan for #LIML as usual.

What Was In May's Degustabox

It's time for another Degustabox delivery, it is my favourite time of the month and it was a good mix of things I haven't tried before. If you haven't heard of Degustabox it's a monthly subscription box priced at £12.99 that delivers 9-14 surprise products, many of the products are new to the market so you get to try them first.
The Wonderful Company - 90p - We got 2 bags from this company a bag of almonds and a bag of pistachios. I'm not a big nut person, so it was nice to be able to try something new with these. I loved the almonds.
Garofalo - £1.99 - We love pasta in our house, its a cupboard staple. I have never tried this corkscrew type if pasta, it really swells when you cook it, so a little goes a long way.
Pechkeks Fortune Cookies - £1.00 - We loved these! fortune cookies with a twist, they don't predict happy futures, quite the opposite, a real laugh.
Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce - £1.99 - This was a huge hit with Dave, he loves a good bbq sauce! This is definitely the best we have tried, we glazed some pork steaks in it and they were delicious.
Cranes - £1.90 - I loved the strawberry & kiwi flavour and the Mr liked the original cranberry. At only 4% alcohol its perfect for a light drinker like me.
Beloved - £3.50 - Now I hate dates, it stems from my Nan trying to feed them me as a child, so when I saw the date syrup I gagged! But I did actually try it and its delicious drizzled on pancakes.
Pomegreat - £1.49 - Another surprises like for me, this was really refreshing drink in the morning. Even Mr C loved it!
Brioche Pasquier - £1.80 - We love the brioche pasquier range and this month we got the original croissants. They are delicious warmed up and served with our Sunday brunch.
Mrs Crimbles - These lovely madelines are individually wrapped and perfect for the children to ice if I can't be bothered baking. They are also great for their lunch boxes.
Kallo - £1.29/£1.69 - I am familiar with the Kallo range and buy them frequently, but the corn cakes are new to me. They are really low fay and perfect for my healthy eating plan, the chocolate covered ones are amazing!
Get Fruity - £1 - These are award winning fruit and oat bar that are mostly made from fruit. They are a great alternative to a chocolate biscuit, the children loved them.

What do you think of the contents? This month's contents retails for around £21, so you are getting more than your monies worth in the box. There were 15 items from 11 different brands so a good variety. Want to try Degustabox yourself? You can get a massive £6 off your first box by using code BLDEG15 at the checkout.

The A to Z of Autism - I is For.....

When Mr L was diagnosed back in 2007 I didn't have a clue what Autism was or even what it meant, 8 years on and 2 more diagnoses its still a puzzle. I have been contemplating doing a blog series with all the words associated with Autism to help other parents and to maybe be a bit of a reference point. So say hello to the A to Z of Autism. Each week will be a different letter, last week was H is for and I got some fab inclusions from other autism parents. This week is I is for.........

Independance
Rachel from Parenting the PDA way  The thing we, as parents strive to achieve for our kids.
Jeannette from Autism Mumma - Will my children grow up to have this? I hope so, really do.

Invisible
Clare from Sons Sand and Sauvignon - Sometimes as a parent, especially when your child reaches school age you can feel completely invisible with regards to the daily care of your child. You don't know the school policies or how stretched your local specialists are and without fighting tooth and nail, your opinions are very often not the priority

Insecure
Miriam from Faith Mummy My daughter with autism has so little self esteem as she is beginning to realise she is different.

Ideals
Jeannette from Autism Mumma - Others who have such ideals for our children, assumptions about them and how they should or shouldn't behave.

Inclusion
Lucie from Our World and Autism - Check out her post Inclusion in Mainstream

Insuffiecent
Miriam from Faith Mummy Insufficient.....support, help, schools, teachers, awareness, need I go on?

Imagination
Ann from Rainbows are too beautifulmisconception that people with autism have none, but sometimes the opposite is the case

Insomniac
This is definitely a word made for my ASD children, they just never ever get tired, me on the other hand.........

I.LP
This is a individual learnng plan, and msot children on teh sepctrum will have one. THis is a dociument that has a stregedy or education/learning. It takes into consideration the child's strengths and weaknesses and identifies how progress will be made.

Do you have anything else you would add for H then just leave me a comment below? Make sure you come back in a fortnight for I is for.....

Bathtime Fun With Crazysoap

So bath night, it happens every other day in our house and is usually met with moans of I don't want a bath, what is is with kids wanting to be covered in dirt all the time!! But everyone needs to have a bath don't they, so why not make bath times fun? We have been sent some of the Crazysoap range to try out with the children.
First off I am going to tell you about the colour changing bubble bath, which comes in a 300ml bottle. Its is very mild, hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested. It also has a cute foam hippo on the lid which is great for playing with in the bath!
The children think its magic, its orange in the bottle and as soon as its hits the water it starts changing colour. It changes from bright orange to green, there are plenty of bubbles as well. It has a really nice fragrance and smells really clean and fresh. The children were really pleased with the level of bubbles in the tub!
The gang couldn't wait t get in and try out the foam soap, they come in lots of different colours and like the bubble bath are all mild, hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested. They come in an aersol container wth a push down cap. Mr C found it a bit tricky to get to soap out himself, but Miss S had no problems.
You can literally make mountains in the bath with it and believe me the children did!! It doesn't just disappear either when it hits the water. You can mould it, shape it and even throw it, my gang got a little carried away and the tub was full of it. It smelled gorgeous though and so did their skin. It even cleaned off all the dirt on Mr C's mucky face! I noticed how soft the children skin was when I got them dressed and they smelled beautiful. It no different to our usual brand of body wash we clean the children with, but it's just so much more fun.

We loved having fun with Crazysoap, it's certainly made bath time more fun and the children literally jump in the bath. Crazysoap foam retails at just £2 per bottle and the colour changing bubble bath is just £2.50, so they're a fab price.

Fireman Sam Summer Safety Campaign

We all try and instil some safety knowledge into out little ones don't we, this summer Fireman Sam is on hand to help launch a nationwide campaign on the importance of keeping safe this summer. Child Safety Week runs 6th-12th June and is an annual initiative run by the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) to raise awareness of child-related accidents and how they can be prevented. I don't know about yours, but my children love Youtube and watching all kinds of videos and this Fireman Sam Summer Saftey Compilation video is perfect for strengthening the message.

Bringing these important tips to life and to support Child Safety Week messages, Fireman Sam and his team also feature in fun animated videos that will ensure all members of the family are aware of the potential hazards that can cause accidents during the summer.
  1. Always walk when you are near a swimming pool, never run.
  2. Always walk when you are near a swimming pool, never run.
  3. If you are swimming in the sea, never turn your back to the sea – this will prevent you from seeing big waves coming towards you.
  4. Take care when paddling and swimming in the sea as the water can get deep very quickly.
  5. Always ensure you have a responsible adult with you when paddling and swimming in the sea.
  6. Always leave lighting a barbeque to a responsible adult.
  7. Ensure you keep your barbeque a safe distance from trees, bushes and anything else that may catch fire before lighting it.
  8. Make sure that your barbeque is placed on a flat surface so it stays in place once it’s lit.
  9. Always stand back from a barbeque and keep a safe distance whilst it is in use.
  10. Always stand back from a barbeque and keep a safe distance whilst it is in use.
Katrina Phillips, Chief Executive of the Child Accident Prevention Trust, comments: “It is really important that parents and children are vigilant and take extra precaution this summer to avoid unnecessary accidents. The Fireman Sam Summer Safety videos are a fantastic way to support Child Safety Week and what we stand for, as well as reinforcing key safety messages without finger wagging at parents”.

I think you will agree all 10 are a must for the summer months, could you think of any that aren't here you would like to add?

Get More Vitamin Drinks Review

Over May bank holiday, I went to Blog On MSI, a fab blogging conference and there were lots of brands there. One of the brands I got chatting to was Get More Drinks, they were showcasing their drinks range and they have kindly sent me some of the range to review.
I have been sent a selection of Get More and A Little More drinks which are 2 ranges that help adults and children get more of what they need. Each favour drink offers a different boost if you like. Myself and the children have been trying them out over the past few days.
The still drinks come in 3 flavour options and the all provide or support a different aspect for you. They all made with natural spring water, natural flavours and have no added sugar.
  • Cranberry & Pomegranate provides essential nutrients, it helps top up 3 essential nutrients. Potassium to maintain normal blood pressure (4 children can be testing, so anything to keep my blood pressure in check is welcome!), magnesium to help reduce tiredness & fatigue and calcium to maintain teeth and bones.
  • Mango & Passionfruit supports healthy bones, it contains vitamin D which helps keep the right level of calcium in your blood. This in turn helps maintain your teeth, bones and muscles.
  • Apple & Raspberry helps your body release energy and contains B vitamins. Vitamin B helps turn your food into energy, B6 & B12 tackle your tiredness (definitely the drink for me!) while B1 and B3 get your metabolism going.
We enjoyed all 3 of the still flavour drinks, I think my favourite was definitely the apple & raspberry flavour, I need all the help I can get with tiredness.
When it comes to a choice of still over sparkling I always choose sparkling, so I was excited to try a sparkling healthy drink. Available in 3 flavours like the still variety with no added sugar and packed full of good stuff.

  • Blackcurrant & Blueberry to support healthy skin and vision. This drink contains vitamin A and helps you maintain the right amount of iron in your blood. The bottle contains 50% of your recommended daily allowance of vitamin A.
  • Lemon & Lime to help your body stay healthy. Packed full of multivitamins, fortified with B1, B3, B5, B6, B7, B12, vitamin C, magnesium and zinc. It really has everything you need and it tastes delicious to boot.
  • Orange to support your immune system, it contains your recommended daily allowance of vitamin c
My older boy loved the lemon and lime flavour, he said it tasted like lemonade, but it's so much healthier for him than fizzy lemonade. He commented that he felt more hydrated after drinking the lemon and lime flavour.
The little ones didn't have to miss out, they were sent the kids range of Get More to try out.
The children's range are made using spring water, all natural flavour and packed with good stuff, you can buy them in individual bottle or packs of 6. We tried all 3 flavours in the range.
  • Mango which supports growing bones and contains vitamin D, to keep the right level of calcium in their blood. My gang loved the mango flavour, they really like fruity drinks and have never tried mango flavoured water. It was their favourite of the 3 drinks.
  • Apple which helps the body stay healthy, the multivitamins give children a daily dose of vitamins. Biotin and magnesium fire up their metabolism. Vitamins B6 and B12 support their immune system, and zinc helps maintain healthy skin, hair and nails. The apple flavour is really subtle and the children loved it. They have found other apple based drinks really tangy but these are just lovely.
  • Orange which supports the immune system and is packed with vitamin C, orange is always going to be a popular flavour, most children love orange.

It's safe to say the Get More drinks went down well in the RTR household , they make a  really healthy option to regular drinks. You can buy Get More drinks from Tesco, Sainsburys, Ocado and Asda with prices as low as just £1. You can also buy them directly from the More Drinks website.

Frenzy 145mm Recreational Scooter Review

As part of our Fathers Day Gift guide we have been sent a fab adults scooter for review, because scooters aren't just for kids! A scooter is the perfect way for a busy Dad to get around, whether it's school run or the before work commute.
The Frenzy 145mm Recreational Scooter from Skates.co.uk is incredibly compact and folds down for ease of storage, it's also really light weight and comes with a handy carry strap. It's perfect for the morning commute and you can literally throw it on your shoulder and jump on the bus, train or tube. It's a nifty piece of kit for £69.95.
It's an extremely well made and sturdy scooter that is absolutely packed with features
  • Adjustable bars
  • easy fold system
  • oversized metal fender brake
  • 145mm wheels
  • carry strap
  • kick stand
  • supports weight up to 100kg
  • maximum bar height 97.5cm
I think the favourite features for us is the fact that the scooter is free standing, it's foldable for easy storage and we also love the carry strap. The frame is made from good quality metal and the moulded fixing are securely fastened. The whole frame is matt black and the metallic blue accents make it really stand out, all the smaller fixings such as screws and bolts are silver. It's all very beautifully colour coordinated, not that the men will care, but I do!
Dave has been giving it a good test out, he tells me it is a really smooth ride. We found the folding mechanism a bit stiff at first, but that has got easier with use. The sturdy rubber wheels provide the perfect ride whether you're on tarmac or concrete. He has actually used it every day for the school run and it's cut the time in half. We found with the handle bars on the lowest setting it was the perfect size for our 9-year-old, now he knows this I'm not sure how much time Dave will get on it in future. To give you a little more insight and a closer look I made a clip for our Youtube channel, which you can see below.

Weekly Weigh In With #ShakeitSlim

If you read last week's post you will know that I was trialling the Shake It Slim plan from Forza supplements for the week. Shake it slim is a meal plan replacement shake designed to support a healthy weight loss.
Shake it Slim is a convenient, great-tasting meal replacement shake that has been designed to support safe and healthy weight loss. The shakes are high in protein, contain 22 different vitamins and minerals, and contain only 204 calories per individual serving. Substituting two daily meals of an energy-restricted diet with Shake it Slim contributes to weight loss while substituting one daily meal of an energy-restricted diet with Shake it Slim contributes to the maintenance of weight after weight loss.
This assorted flavour pack contains three delicious flavours: rich chocolate, luscious strawberry and creamy vanilla. It is also really simple to use and can be mixed with water in just a matter of seconds – leaving no lumps or residue! Shake it Slim is available to buy from Boots and Holland and Barrett and priced at £18.99 for the 7-day starter pack.
I have tried a few shakes diets before and always been unsatisfied with the way they taste, but I really enjoyed the Shake it slim drinks. The shaker has a ball that makes the powder mix really well and even though the shakes are mixed with water they have a really thick consistency. If I had to choose between the 3 flavours I think chocolate is definitely my favourite, it's really creamy and tastes really chocolatey. I found having a shake for breakfast really easy, as I am not that hungry in the morning. As it approached lunch I did start feeling a bit hungry and looked forward to my shake. This then got me through until about 3pm which is when I started to feel really hungry. But you never really know if you are hungry, so I aways did what my Mum taught me when you think you're hungry have a glass of water and it maybe that you are thirsty. You do have to have a minimum of 2 litres a day whilst doing the shakes, but I drink a lot anyway, so this wasn't a problem at all for me. I had a normal balanced meal for dinner in the evening usually consisting of meat, potato, rice or pasta and some veg or salad. It did get a bit tough midweek when I questioned my ability to stay on plan, but I did manage it.
I suppose the important bit you want to know is how much weight did I lose!! Well in the 7 days that I consumed the shakes I lost an amazing 5lbs! It's really given me a boost after struggling with gains in the last few weeks. I'm now back on track and ready to keep on losing!

Schleich Horse Range Review

Schleich will reveal a whole new range of horsey products in July which is perfect for any horse lover. The new World of Horses line will feature everything horse fans could ever wish for. Schleich is also expanding the extensive range of toys with new figurines, matching accessories, and playsets of varying sizes. We have been sent 2 of the new range to try out.
The horse set is perfect for some imaginative play opportunities, the set comes with 6 fence panels that you can construct any way you want, 2 different sized horse, 2 hay bales, a grooms person, a food basket and 2 bunches of carrots. The horse and grooms woman are moulded so they are not poseable, but you can move them around to simulate play.
I love how detailed all the playset pieces are, the horse is really textured and you can see the details in their coat and main. The hay bales have a nice 3d shape and are really textured which is really good for some sensory play, which my children love.
The smaller horse is the perfect size for eating the carrots from the feeding basket and the grooms woman hand. It's a really nice set for pretending to care and feed your horses.
The second item from the new range we received for review is the eventing rider, she is the perfect companion for the feeding play set we received.
The horse and rider are again really great quality and made from good quality materials. Th rider and bridle come off the horse, which is a great feature for my children as they love to take things apart.
Miss S has really enjoyed playing with both these items, she really likes horse so I knew she would enjoy them. We are all for toys that encourage imaginative play and these both are just the thing. Miss S was happy making the horse trot around that enclosure and even making them jump over the fence. She was trying to make the grooms woman ride the small horse and got a little frustrated that her stand was in the way. The small carrots were great for practising her motor skills also. The new range gets a massive thumbs up from us and we definitely be investing in some more of the range for Miss S.
