OXO Compost Bin Review

I don't make New Years resolutions as I always tend to break them, but this year I decided to make a few New Year changes. We like to recycle as much as we can, we have cardboard and plastic collections and a gardening bin that food scraps can be placed in. Our local council provide you with a horrid grey bin and green liners for food scraps. Its a bit grim looking and has a vented lid which means you can smell its contents whenever you walk in the kitchen! I stopped using mine months ago which means all of our food waste has been going into the rubbish bin. Since I started Slimming World and am cooking all meals fresh our food waste has got a lot more, so I thought a new food bin would be a good idea. The Oxo Good Grips Compost Bin is the perfect item for the job. Its sleek white outer looks fab on my kitchen side. There is a green trim running around the top which is the inner part of the bin. It goes great with the aqua theme in my kitchen, its little things like this which make me happy!
I love that the lid just clips off the top of the bin, it makes really easy empty and means you don't get the contents of the bin all over the lid when emptying. The lid is really light weight and you can flip it open with just one hand. The big chunky white handle makes easy carrying and it is on a hinge so can sit either side of the bin. The inside of the compost bin is all smooth, this is great as it means that food waste cant get caught in the corners. Its so easy to clean, I have just been able to rinse it out once emptied really easily.
Its a really good size and will easily last a full day without the need to be emptied. We are a family of 6 and I cook all meals from scratch. I only have to empty it every other day. It sits nicely next to my other appliances and doesn't look out of place. It doesn't have a vented lid like some compost bins, so you don't get any wiffy smells. The Oxo Compost Bin retails at £15 which is a really good price for something so well made, you can get this and discover the rest of the Oxo range over on the website above.
