Trying the children's Menu at Cafe Rouge

On Wednesday I was invited to try out the new children menu in Cafe Rouge in the Trafford Centre, we had a trip planned to take Mr D to play golf so popped in for a late lunch before going to play. It was 2pm when we arrived and it wasn't very busy at all. We were greeted instantly and Mr D was given some crayons and paper to draw on while we waited for food. We were given the option of sitting inside or outside and opted for inside to benefit from the lovely air conditioning.
The Cafe has a nice friendly feel to it, there were lots of staff milling about even though it wasn't very busy, but they weren't standing around doing nothing which I liked. As soon as we sat we were given menus to look at and Mr D's menu was on the back of his colouring in sheet.
The childrens menu is great value with 3 courses and a drink for only £6.95, we had a look at other restaurants on the way in and this was by far one of the best deals in the Trafford Centre. It offers plenty of choice to with the following options to choose from.

Mr D loved that he had his own separate menu to choose from and enjoyed reading it and deciding what he wanted. I ordered off the main menu as I'm on Slimming world so have to be selective with what I eat and my Dad ordered off the rapide menu and got 3 courses for £12.95.
Mr D really enjoyed his starter, he loved the piece of french bread that came with it, he liked it that much I didn't manage to get a picture of it before he ate it! My Dad opted for the bacon and avocado salad. Both were served within 5 minutes of us placing our order. I decided to skip a starter and save myself for dessert, but I would definitely order the starter my Dad got it looked delicious. The children starter was just the right size for Mr D and he loved the tomato dip.
Our mains followed a few minutes after out starter plates were cleared away and they looked just as tempting as the starters. I was really impressed with Mr D's serving of sausage and mash portion and he said the sausages had delicious green bits in (they were herbs) and the mash was really creamy. My steak was cooked to perfection and the dressing on the salad had a nice peppery kick to it. My Dads chicken escalope was huge! It had a pile of french fries and salad to.
We were all pretty stuffed by the time came for puddings after the generous starters and main meal, but we soldiered on anway! Mr D opted for strawberry ice cream with marshmallows on top, he was a little disappointed when it came and it was only 1 scoop, but he didn't even manage to finish the one scoop, his eyes are bigger than his belly. I opted for the crepe basket with fresh fruit and ice cream which was really delicious. My Dad chose the raspberry sorbet off the rapide menu and said it had a lovely zingy punch to it.
We all really enjoyed our meal and I was really impressed with the childrens options, there was something on the menu that each of my 4 children would eat, so we will definitely be taking a return visit. As you can see from the above picture it gets a thumbs up from him.
